Devlog #2 - First steps
Hey everyone!
Week 2 is finally here! We are excited to announce that we've picked a new, definite name for our project: Robots in Mayaland (or just RIM for short)! And this time, there are also images to look at! Yay!
For the past week, we've again been very busy working on documentation and prototyping, but we'll soon start to make things pretty! We spend a lot making a blockout for our level. Our main inspiration was the design of some Mario Party maps:
The map needed some complexity and a lot of height differences. We wanted to make sure that players are able to choose wherever they go, instead of forcing them to follow one path. The design of the level had to be interesting on it's own, as we don't want to be fully reliant on the rising blocks to define the landscape (one of our mechanics was that blocks would rise up from the ground, blocking the players pathway).
We plan to use Mixamo to obtain fast rigs for our character. You can check out their website here! We already did a small test and here is the result:
Thank you for tuning in and until next week!
